One of the historic buildings on the market square in Krakow. He wears number 16.The name comes from the name of the family Morsztyns who in the fifteenth century were its owners. The
present appearance is largely due to reconstruction of the early
nineteenth century, which was initiated by the then owner Anthony
Morbitzer. Then in the final façade placed his monogram (AM) in the environment allegory shipping and trade. In
1947, Kazimierz Books opened in this building Restaurant "Under
Wierzynkiem" which was nationalized four years later, and now is known
as the "Wierzynek". Inside
you can admire as Pompeian room with polychrome from the end of the
eighteenth century, the Knights' hall, which is actually located in the
adjacent building Hetmańska, but belongs to the "Wierzynka," and it
contains from the fourteenth century the head as supports. On the first floor are visible sixteenth-century ceilings. As
for the famous feast given by Nicholas Wierzynka who, on behalf of the
City Council undertook in September 1364 years emperors, kings and
princes is known for sure that I was. It
is not known place of the event, and the current building which houses
the "Wierzynek" perhaps never to Wierzynka did not belong.
